The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Airlangga, is committed to producing excellent, relevant, and sustainable research in economics and business, with research directions spanning several strategic areas, including food security, health and public well-being, the digitalization of economics and business, public governance and policy, as well as Islamic economics and finance. These research directions are pursued collaboratively through various cross-disciplinary Research Groups within FEB, with management support provided by the Research, Community Service, and Publication Unit (Unit Penelitian, Pengabdian Masyarakat dan Publikasi, 3P), which assists FEB’s academic community throughout the research process, from inception to scientific publication. FEB’s academic community has access to a range of research grant schemes to support research productivity, both from internal university sources, such as the Airlangga Research Fund and faculty research programs, and from national competitive schemes offered by government ministries and BRIN (the National Research and Innovation Agency). This diverse funding support has contributed to FEB’s research performance over the past five years, with achievements including more than 2,200 Scopus-indexed publications (predominantly in the Q1–Q2 quartiles), nearly 2,800 Sinta-indexed national publications, hundreds of research grants and community service activities, and dozens of scholarly books published annually.
DPPM (Directorate of Research and Community Service) is a directorate under the Directorate General of Research and Development, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) of the Republic of Indonesia, which administers national-level research and community service grant programs for lecturers across all higher education institutions in Indonesia. Through the BIMA application (Basis Informasi Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat / Research and Community Service Information System), lecturers and researchers can submit proposals for a variety of competitive funding schemes, ranging from Basic Research (such as Beginner Lecturer Research, Master’s Thesis Research, and Doctoral Dissertation Research) to National Competitive Research and Community Service schemes, with research directions guided by the National Research Master Plan (Rencana Induk Riset Nasional, RIRN). FEB UNAIR’s academic community has the opportunity to access this funding to support research and community service with broad impact on the advancement of science and society at the national level.

BRIN (National Research and Innovation Agency) is a non-ministerial government body reporting directly to the President in matters of national research and innovation. Through the RIIM program (Riset dan Inovasi untuk Indonesia Maju / Research and Innovation for an Advanced Indonesia), lecturers and researchers can submit proposals for various competitive funding schemes, ranging from RIIM External Competition to RIIM Collaboration, with a focus on research that generates scientific novelty and produces outputs such as scientific publications and intellectual property across multiple fields, including social sciences, humanities, economics, and public welfare. FEB UNAIR’s academic community has the opportunity to access this funding to support research with broad impact on the advancement of science and innovation at the national level.

ARF (Airlangga Research Fund) is a flagship research funding scheme owned by Universitas Airlangga and managed by the Directorate of Research and Innovation (DRI) of UNAIR. Through the AMERTA platform (Airlangga Manajemen Riset Digital / Airlangga Digital Research Management), lecturers and researchers can submit proposals for various competitive funding schemes, ranging from Beginner Lecturer Research and Airlangga Featured Research, to International Research Collaboration and Book-Output Research, with an orientation toward improving research quality, innovation capacity, and the impact and citation of research outputs. This report provides strategic direction for PT Kawasan Industri Gresik for the 2026–2030 period, in light of changes to the company’s organizational structure, holding company directives, and government strategic directives applicable to all industrial estates under its ownership. As such, this report is of significant importance in guiding the company’s strategic development to ensure compliance and the achievement of targets set by the holding company.
The development of the Gresik Special Economic Zone (Java Integrated Industrial and Port Estate, JIIPE) faces strategic challenges encompassing institutional governance issues, local human resource readiness, the zone’s competitiveness relative to other industrial estates in ASEAN, and the need to adopt Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles along with Industry 4.0 technologies. A holistic, adaptive, and collaborative strategic approach is therefore required to position the Gresik Special Economic Zone (JIIPE) as a new-generation industrial estate model that is globally competitive and locally inclusive.
Development of a Study on the Reference Pricing of Fishing Equipment and the Compensation Mechanism for Damages Resulting from Upstream Oil and Gas Activities in the Madura Region. The primary objective of this study is to establish a fair legal foundation for both business operators (Cooperation Contract Contractors, KKKS) and affected communities (fishermen), leading to the formulation of a proposed draft Regency Regulation (Peraturan Bupati). This will provide certainty to SKK Migas, KKKS, local governments, and fishing communities regarding compensation for fishing equipment damage caused by oil and gas activities.
The World Bank’s East Java Public Expenditure Analysis 2013 report evaluates how public expenditure management in East Java Province can be made more effective in supporting inclusive economic growth and improving the quality of public services. The report finds that although East Java demonstrates relatively strong economic performance and increasing fiscal capacity, the quality of government spending continues to face challenges, including the dominance of personnel expenditure, low efficiency in capital spending, weak coordination between provincial and district/city governments, and limitations in performance-based planning, budgeting, and evaluation systems. In key sectors such as education, health, and infrastructure, increased budget allocations have not been fully matched by improved development outcomes due to challenges in program implementation effectiveness. Accordingly, the World Bank recommends reforming regional financial governance through strengthened evidence-based planning, improved quality of capital expenditure, enhanced local government capacity, and better monitoring and evaluation systems, so that public expenditure can generate greater impact on economic growth, poverty reduction, and improved public welfare in East Java.

The Research Ethics Committee is responsible for ensuring that all research activities within the faculty are conducted in accordance with the principles of research ethics, academic integrity, and applicable regulations. The Committee conducts ethical reviews of research proposals, issues ethical clearance for research that meets the required standards, and protects the rights, safety, dignity, privacy, and confidentiality of research participants. In addition, the Committee provides guidance, consultation, and recommendations on ethical issues to lecturers, students, and researchers; promotes compliance with national and international standards; and contributes to strengthening research governance, a culture of integrity, and the quality of responsible research within the faculty.
